16/21 | R - Christy cutting axle thrust bushing down on lathe Return to MSR&LHA Home page |
The third of three views of Christy facing one of the lateral thrust washers to thickness. So much slop was removed from this truck by rebuilding the journal boxes, the journal box pedestals, and side frames, that thrust washers are only needed on one side of each axle. This was totally unexpected, as on the tender truck, washers were required on both ends of each axle.
